Part of a special series of 1/72 scale models from Dragon Armor, the Tiger I “Panzer Ace & Glory” is the second version of the famous early production Tiger I “S04” from January 1944 – complete with Michael Wittmann and his five crewmen as per the famous photographs taken after the Wittmann being awarded his Knight’s Cross.
The tank comes in a special cardboard box featuring the archive photographs of Wittmann and his crew, with the vehicle itself attached with two small screws to a plastic base and contained in a clear plastic box. Rather than the standard black base, this one has a “snow” effect printed on. The tank itself is of the same construction as the previous S04, but with a slightly different approach to the whitewash effect.
The fully rotatable turret on this highly-detailed vehicle is also different from the first S04, with the number in bright red. As in the original photographs, the barrel of the Tiger’s 88mm gun is illustrated with the highly distinctive “kill” rings.
Perhaps the most interesting addition to this special edition model are famous commander and his five crew members: gunner Balthasar “Bobby” Woll, driver Eugen Schmidt, loader Sepp Roßner and radio operator Walter Irrgang.
