The Tiger I

If any question were to be asked about armoured combat in the Second World War, one vehicle will always take its place at the top of the discussion: the dreaded Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. H/E (Pz. Kpfw. VI, Sd. Kfz. 181), better known as the Tiger (Tiger I). A fearsome weapon in itself, the Tiger’s effectiveness was maximised to its full potential when it found itself under the command of such talented individuals as Michael Wittmann and his equally skilful crew.

This section contains a brief history of the birth and development of the Tiger tank, and includes full detailed technical specifications of the vehicle, as well as features on the Order of Battle of all of the Tiger formations served by Michael Wittmann. There is also also a detailed on section on my collection of scale models of all of Wittmann’s Tiger Is – including the exclusive Forces of Valor 1:16 series for which I served as a historical consultant.
