Tarnished Warriors: A Reappraisal

Select Bibliographical References

Listed below are the works I made use of in the production of this paper. Rather than set about rewriting it, I have for the sake of originality chosen to keep the flavour of the original paper, written in the Summer of 1994 as a third-year dissertation. Hence the few changes I have made to the text are slight if not unnoticeable. Since my writing this paper, there have been a number of new works published on the Waffen-SS, some of which provide good general histories. Examples include a number of works by Gordon Williamson, Christopher Ailsby and Robin Lumsden. But by far the best series of books to have been published in recent years, although they do not deal with the Waffen-SS as a whole, are the series by Michael Reynolds, The Devil's Adjutant, which chronicles the career and campaigns of Joachim "Jochen" Peiper, and the twin set Steel Inferno and Men of Steel, which cover the history of I. SS Panzer Corps from the Normandy Campaign through to the war's end in May 1945.
